Climate and nature

It is five minutes past midnight. The consequences of the climate crisis are clearly visible: heavier rain showers and floods, but also hot summers and drought. Climate change is completely altering the habitability of our planet, and we have little time left to resolve this. Combating climate change and injustice is therefore the foundation of everything I do.

Continuing as we are is not possible. Our consumption and eating habits are unsustainable if we want to combat climate change. We are exceeding the limits of what the planet can handle. Because the wealthiest countries have the largest CO₂e footprint per capita, it is fair to reduce production and consumption in rich countries. Only in this way can we combat climate change and ecological depletion and resolve the inequality between poorer and richer countries.

Simply put: we must start eating and living plant-based. Leave the car behind and travel on foot, by bike, or by public transport. And above all, fly less and buy fewer things. At the same time, it is not just our individual responsibility. Large companies have a huge role to play in making this transition possible. But they will not contribute on their own; a strong government is needed to stimulate and regulate. I am convinced that green politics can only be left-wing politics, where the biggest emitters must contribute the most to solving the problem.

We are guests on this planet, just like all animals and nature. It is simply decent and respectful to treat our environment with care.
